The WDHS benefit concert is only 10 days away. Gary and I will be performing 2 songs in the event. This time, we will appear as Just Us and friends. These other people include the WDHS choir, local favourite Karen Holgate, talented graduate from the school Thea Kerr, and a brilliant drummer who is in grade 12 Aron Dimoff.
We practised with the choir a couple of weeks ago. It sounded really good. Brenda Long, the music teacher, reckoned that we probably need one more rehersal, and then we are set. Yesterday, Gary and I got together with Karen Holgate to work on the second song. This Friday, the whole band - us three, Thea on accordion and Arron on drums - will get together for our first rehersal. It will be the first time in ages I play with a band.

Plumb forgot to blog about this after the event! Suffice it to say the event went _swimmingly_ well, not a capacity crowd but just as well considering the crowding in at the intermission cafe.
I only caught a few moments of the show from the back of the hall, but what I did catch was excellent stuff and the sound was great. Starting with Dave Nixon and Midnight Blue, the evening was a startling mix of alumni and current students showing just how varied and polished our local home-grown talent can be -- it probably has something to do with those many _snow days_ off from work and school where there's not much to do in the old cabin but pick and grin.
We were treated to pop tunes, rock tunes, show tunes, traditional and gospel, solo artists, small ensembles, big band and choir.
An excellent evening, well produced and presented with style and grace: Brill score, well done everyone!
