Our Handfasting
Friday, June 6, 2008

Yes, it is true, we've been busy ... and we have news ...

The 'Handfast' is a medieval ceremony for contract of marriage where the couple's clasped hands are bound by a ribbon and thus what we know today as "tying the knot"

May Ip and Gary Murphy will tie the knot on the Summer Solstice 2008 (June 20); the wedding will be a small and casual eco-friendly affair in a local woodland garden with bonfires and singsongs into the evening

Some friends have asked us about PayPal for gifts, so there's a button here that we hope will do the magic; having been together so long, we're pretty much for housewares, so we've instead set up a Royal Bank fund (02122/5035316) for donations towards some very much needed home and property repairs that will happily forever after be known as "Our Wedding Present" ;)

On the wedding itself, we're having a small affair of East Meets West in so many ways. The date is the 20th of June at the precise time of the Solstice (19:59 EDT) and the location will be in an idyllic nature conservancy north of Wiarton; the reception will take place the next day at our home in Sauble Beach, a day-long drop-in come and go tea party, and there should be music everywhere!

For those of you on facebook, do follow the link and join our group page; we're asking folk to upload their videos, pictures or whatever else they may add so that this page becomes our wedding album! :)
